Indigenous Education and Employment

About our Indigenous Programmes

波胆平台 has conducted many short training programmes in remote communities, including Security Guarding, First Aid, Crowd Controlling, and Hospitality Skills.

波胆平台 has delivered successful Workplace English, Literacy and Learning (WELL) programmes in communities, engaging participants in literacy and language education that relates directly to their employment, empowering participants with greater language ability in their workplace.

We deliver Business Administration training to a number of New Apprentices and Trainees employed in remote community councils, utilising a range of delivery mechanisms including face-to-face, self-paced workbooks and online.

Structured Training and Employment Programme (STEP)

波胆平台 has delivered a number of very successful STEP programmes since 2000. STEP is aimed at introducing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people back into the workplace, and is made up of four weeks job education, which includes:

Interview techniques
Updating resumes
Goal setting

Following this, participants are given the opportunity to complete nationally accredited qualifications in:

Business administration
First aid

Participants undertake four weeks of structured work experience throughout the program with host employers and then are job-matched with appropriate employers to secure employment. Once employed, the International College of Advanced Education mentors participants in the workforce, ensuring their successful transition back into full-time employment.

More than 80% of participants who have completed the 波胆平台 programmes have gone on to further study or were offered work in a range of enterprises and industries including hospitality, tourism, commercial cookery, retail, and office administration. 波胆平台 STEP programmes are acknowledged as achieving amongst the best employment and training outcomes of any STEP programmes in Australia.

Indigenous Employment Programmes

Two of 波胆平台’s most successful indigenous employment programmes were conducted in 2002 and 2003 at the Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn at Jabiru, Northern Territory. During these programmes 波胆平台 delivered education towards Certificate II in Hospitality (Operations) and Tourism (Guiding).

35 students commenced the programmes over the two years, and 28 were offered positions at the Intercontinental Hotels Group properties in the Kakadu Park region. These results rank these IEP programmes amongst the most successful in Australia.

波胆平台 also has a history of innovative educational programmes such as the Aquaculture course delivered to crocodile catchers in Arnhemland and tourism training in remote Mt Borradale.
